Collagen Induction therapy (CIT) is used primarily as a treatment for acne and chicken pox scars, stretch marks, fine lines & wrinkles and pore minimisation.For anti-aging purposes it has a superior effect on collagen and elastin rejuvenation. The Micro-Needles painlessly puncture the skin down to the dermis, stimulating the skin’s fibroblasts which lay down collagen – increasing the skins elasticity, and in turn tightening, lifting & rejuvenating the skin. 

How it works

It can be used all over the face and body to stimulate the natural production of new collagen and elastin, thereby smoothing wrinkles and scars in just a few short treatments.

The Raffine automatic microneedling device is far more advanced than MTS (Dermaroller Type needling). Clinical studies have shown that AutoMTS (Automatic Micro-Needle Therapy Systems) to be more effective than ablative treatments like laser resurfacing, microdermabrasion, and chemical peels.

Raffine is also just as effective as non-ablative treatments like IPL, CO2 Laser, and Fraxel in stimulating collagen and elastin production.

How does it work?

It has a disposable piece that is inserted into the top of the device that contains many tiny sterile needles. These needles penetrate into the skin at different levels depending on the part of the face, depth of scar or the condition being treated. This causes a micro injury to the skin which is turn causes healing. This healing releases new collagen and elastin and growth factors, which cause the remodelling & breaking down of old collagen and scar tissue. This micro injury also allows temporary fine channels to be created in the skin. These channels carry up to 80% more topical nutrients for delivery deep within the fibroblasts to feed the underlying cells found in the deeper layers of the skin. This increased and even absorption of the active ingredients used during treatment into the skin creates stimulated repair and faster resurfacing and faster healing results.After treatment, the thousands of little microscopic needle points in your skin close within the hour. Your skin then initiates a repair and stimulation process that goes on over many weeks, resulting in improved skin texture and fewer fine lines and wrinkles. The Dermapen’s impressive results are backed up by many clinical studies. 

Does it hurt?

Prior to your treatment, we will remove make-up and deeply cleanse your skin using. Numbing cream is not essential as the procedure is relatively painless. You will feel the Device on your skin, so you will feel a slight prickly sensation, but no pain. 

How Many Treatments will I need?

Every person is different and the number of treatments needed does vary depending on the condition being treated, but the following are very good guidelines:

Acne Scarring – 4-6 Treatments, 4 – 6 weeks apart.

Skin Rejuvenation/Collagen Induction – 4-6 Treatments.

Stretch Marks – Approx. 4-6 Treatments, 6 weeks apart.

What does treatment include?

Skin Needling is a 30 – 60  minute treatment with our Advanced Skincare Specialist depending on which package you go for. The facial starts with skin assessment, cleanse, disinfected then a Charcoal Mask or an Enzyme Peel is applied. This non-abrasive peeling gel delivers professional results. Results have shown that the Instant Painless Peel greatly improves skin’s texture and radiance without any of the down time associated with chemical peelings. When gently massaged onto skin, the natural multi-action enzymes effectively peel and help uncover a fresh, new complexion without drying, irritating, or causing undue stress to the skin.                                                                                                     

The Process 

After the skin is prepped and disinfected the needle treatment is ready for the treatment to begin. During the micro-needling procedure itself we select a mesotherapy cocktail for use appropriate to the skin concern we are treating. The treatment is followed by a post-treatment skin quenching cooling gel mask, for soothing and relaxing the skin and/or Light Therapy depending on the package chosen. This also greatly helps with reducing skin redness after the procedure and aiding skin repair.

What can I expect after treatment?

The treated area will be pink/red for 12-48 hours and your skin may feel warmer and tighter than usual. You must not add more heat to the skin in the next 48 hours meaning you should avoid hot bathes, steam and hot tubs. Additionally chorinated pools should be avoided.

You should keep your face free of make-up that day.  After the first day redness can be minimised with a mineral powder. The skin may flake slightly 2-3 days after the procedure, this is dry/dead skin cells and can be removed with a warm towel. A moisturising balm will be given post procedure.

How long do the results last?
The results from micro-needling skin remodelling can go on for months after each treatment as type1 collagen continues to lay down for up to 6 month after a wound has been created. Results can be seen from one to eight weeks later. Typically you will see results after your first treatment.

Lasting and more significant results will occur after 4-6 treatments when spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. Your skin naturally heals itself every 45 days, so with micro-needling stimulation changes can be effective and ongoing. Full effects of skin tightening might not show until 6 months after your last treatment.
